Please Note:
For several reasons we have made the decision to close this website on July 15, 2025. We are still offering our subscriptions for credits at the same reduced prices until then, however, it leaves less time than one year to earn your credits. If you feel this timeline will work for you and you would like to purchase a GibneyCE.com subscription, let us know by emailing richard@gibneyce.com and we will send an invoice. Welcome to the gibneyCE.com website This site was designed to offer continuing education (CE) opportunities to landscape architects and related fields looking to improve their knowledge and skills while fulfilling professional CE requirements to maintain valid registration / certification. We hope you find it to be a valuable professional tool easing the process of earning education credits. The inspiration for this site came from Online Seminars for Municipal Arborists, a website founded by Len Phillips*, ASLA Emeritus and Honorary Life Member of the SMA. Len has been providing online seminars for certified arborists and foresters seeking ISA and SAF credit since March 2005. Editor's Note: As a registered landscape architect since 1986 and an ISA certified arborist since 1991, I have always considered arboriculture and horticulture to be important skill sets for landscape architects. Many LAs do not receive comprehensive training in these disciplines. They pursue their profession from a design standpoint that deals with functional, spatial, contextual, historical and aesthetic issues without fully understanding the principals of plants and soil. As a certified arborist, I have been maintaining my certification through ISA programs and Online Seminars. When continuing education became mandatory for LAs, it made sense to me that many ISA accepted credits could serve the continuing education needs of LAs. Many, if not most of the topics fall under the HSW designation of Horticulture in both the LA CES and NYS definitions of acceptable subjects for CE. This site offers the benefit of receiving LA and ISA credits simultaneously while reinforcing the knowledge and awareness of current issues in arboriculture and horticulture vital to most LA projects.
